Robotic mower without wire and quick-charge battery system

Positive feedback from dealers and professional users

During the Green Sector Trade Fair in January, Positec introduced the robotic mower RTK and Kress' new, powerful and durable battery system to dealers. "This fair was an excellent opportunity for us to present our new technologies to the general public. The first reactions were already very positive," says David Mooibroek, regional sales director Central Europe at Positec.

Robotic mowers are great for large fields.

Kress' RTKn series robotic mowers mow large lawns accurately and efficiently without a boundary wire or fixed reference antenna. Mooibroek: "With other brands, the user has to buy an antenna and place it in the garden. With our system, this is not necessary. In fact, we provide our own network. That saves on costs and there is no longer an antenna in sight."

For now, it is mainly consumers who use robotic mowers. In addition, Kress wants to provide the professional user with solutions for large lawns. Therefore, the new product range Kress Commercial was launched. The mowers are suitable for large areas such as golf courses and soccer fields. Setting up is simple: to establish a virtual boundary, the user simply walks along the edge of the lawn with a trolley, after which the receiver with digital map is placed back on the mower. Even if the satellite signal is briefly lost due to trees or buildings, the robotic mowers continue to prove themselves. The Kress algorithm allows the mower to continue its route until the signal recovers. In the process, the Moving Action Plan (MAP) technology ensures efficient mowing. The mowers feature an obstacle avoidance system and a floating mower deck that adjusts to uneven terrain.

Batteries for professional use

Gardeners are not always convinced about the quality of battery-powered machines. They think, for example, that charging takes too much time and that the service life of the batteries is too short. In addition, batteries are often expensive to buy. Mooibroek: "With the 8-minute CyberPack series from Kress, we want to convince them of the opposite. These batteries fully charge in just eight minutes, have a lifespan up to ten times longer than traditional batteries, and are not inferior to gasoline engines in terms of power. Due to the advanced cell technology, the battery does not heat up, so it does not need to cool down before charging." When the battery is connected, the accompanying app keeps track of diagnostic data about the battery, among other things. Users can also find all the information for managing all their batteries in the app. The batteries can be used in a variety of cordless machines: from grass trimmers and brush cutters to chainsaws, backhoes and self-propelled mowers.

Although Kress' products are only supplied through its extensive dealer network, gardeners were also able to learn about the new battery system at the fair. "We spoke to many enthusiastic dealers and gardeners who want to get started with it. At the fair they were able to experience how much power there is in the battery and how long you can work with it."
