German flower and plant grower opts for Flemish foil greenhouses

The design and construction of foil greenhouses and the continuous pursuit of innovative solutions for the sector is what has driven Tielt-based Vermako Plastic Greenhouses for 25 years. They are also gaining more and more recognition internationally for their customized greenhouses in closed, ventilated or convertible versions, always tailored to the specific needs of customer and plant. Recently, Gartenbau Köder, one of Germany's leading flower and plant growers, called on the Tielt company for their new foil greenhouses.

Better quality, more durability

Managing Director Johannes Köder justifies his choice as follows: "Thanks to our new foil greenhouses from Vermako, we can even better guarantee the quality and sustainability of our crops and even take them to a higher level. Due to their design and execution, the greenhouses can be used as both hot or cold greenhouses. Vermako also managed to pleasantly surprise us in terms of energy efficiency. Furthermore, for many of our cultures the foil covering offers substantial advantages in terms of color, growing time and hardening off of the plants. We also placed high demands on the stability of the structure in connection with the considerable snow load that buildings in our region are subjected to every year. They devised a special construction method for this, which uses extra-sturdy sandwich elements with greatly increased load-bearing capacity. Their extensive knowledge, expertise and customer orientation allowed us to successfully realize this ambitious project together in a minimum of time."

No two greenhouses are alike

Growers from other countries and continents also put their trust in Vermako every day because of the workmanship, quality and flexibility of their greenhouses. No two realizations are alike. For example, customers can opt for full-length and full-width concrete skirting that provides additional protection for crops against ground frost. Integrated into the concrete skirting is a profile that ensures a secure attachment of the film. Customization further translates into the choice of doors. These can slide open, are made of aluminum and are usually hung on rails. Widths up to 5 m are possible as well as single or double foil or polycarbonate finishes. Partitions are available in both fixed and roll-up versions. The side ventilation, in sliding or retractable versions, can be fitted perfectly at cutting height. A bird deterrent ensures that the roof foils remain clean. The foils used are of the thermal anti-condensation type with a diffuse light transmission of 92 %. Double-walled versions are also possible. All this already ensures optimal light diffusion, reduced energy consumption, adequate UV blocking. Good for a greenhouse with maximum yield, durability and longevity.
