Garden machinery company Masschelein BV wins Shop Design Award with new retail space

Zwevegem-based Masschelein BV, which sells golf, park and garden equipment for individuals and professionals, recently won Professional Media Group's Shop Design Award in the Home & Garden category. The Masschelein team moved to a new, larger location and wanted an interior with a strong experience and a good balance between their look and that of their main suppliers, such as STIHL. Mission accomplished!

"We didn't want a traditional store where each brand has its own corner," echoes the Masschelein team from Zwevegem, which recently received the Shop Design Award from Professional Media Group. "That's why we went looking for a team of experts to brainstorm on how to make this happen. Together we put everything into creating as much of an experience as possible in our new store. So that people feel attracted and good. Because the customer is central to us and every day we strive for absolute customer satisfaction. "85 companies entered the pmg competition in which the best equipped new or renovated store is rewarded for their investments. Subsequently, 42 were selected by the jury for 7 categories. Masschelein was the winner in the Home & Garden category.

"We are very happy that the jury, made up of experts from both the design and retail world, chose our new retail space, which breaks away from traditional stores," said the team. "The jury was enthusiastic about our large wall visuals and our actively decorated shop window which ensure that even from the street you get an impression of what is going on in the store. They also liked our cozy seating area with trees that provide a moment of rest - customers seem to be in their own garden for a moment. And our VIP area, which connects the store and the work area, was also very popular. In fact, we take our customers to this room to pick up their finished machine. There we discuss in detail the safety and usage aspects and this way the customers also get to meet the workshop, the place where everything started and where we try to work as efficiently as possible every day. An absolute added value."

Listening to customers

Like their interior design, their customer approach is different from the rest. "We listen to our customers first and only then give professional advice," Vincent said. "Not the other way around. Therefore, it happens very often that customers go home with a different device than the one they had seen on the Internet or read about. Here it is very important to know that we only work with a few A-brands so we have perfect knowledge about them. For example, our employees in the store, but also those in the workshop, know everything about STIHL products. That works very efficiently and is therefore a big plus for customers. By the way, the choice of layout also came about to give harmony between the different A brands."
