Three years after the launch of the articulated steering Posi-Trac, Nimos presents the new Posi-Trac F. This makes the Dutch manufacturer the only provider of electric implement carriers with both articulated and rear-wheel steering.
In late 2018, Nimos presented a full-electric articulated tool carrier. Depending on the user's requirements, the machine is offered with a lead-acid battery pack or a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery pack. In this way, the user is guaranteed a full working day of autonomy for the machine.
Lead-acid batteries are a familiar tool in the forklift industry. Here they already proved their great value. In addition, these batteries are 97 percent recyclable. This makes the Posi-Trac a very environmentally friendly machine. In turn, a lithium iron phosphate battery is more stable, more durable and has greater autonomy. At the same time, this battery requires a slightly larger investment. The battery is more resistant to changing temperatures and has no problem with deep discharges and partial recharges. Moreover, in this configuration, the Posi-Trac can be equipped with a battery monitoring system that provides the user with useful feedback on the best possible use and charging of the machine.
Battery-powered machines can operate almost silently. The dominant noise source is now the implement, rather than the combustion engine. The Nimos Posi-Trac, for example, produces a maximum of 68 dB(A), the diesel variant 76 dB(A). So a diesel-powered implement carrier produces as much noise as five Nimos Posi-Tracs. This makes the Posi-Trac the ideal machine for working in urban centers and residential areas, without causing unnecessary noise pollution.
Today there are about six implements that can be coupled to the Nimos Posi-Trac: a weed brush, salt spreader, sweeping brush, hot air scrubber, snowplow and a rotary mower. All of these implements are easily connected to the Posi-Trac through a quick-change system. The implements are automatically recognized by the electric implement carrier. In addition, the control software automatically adapts to the coupled implement.
The Posi-Trac is no less performing than a combustion engine version, quite the contrary. The work results and efficiency of the electric tool carrier are not inferior to a diesel engine version. Moreover, there is the added bonus that the electric tool carrier from Nimos produces no emissions.
Despite the higher purchase price, the Posi-Trac will eventually be a lot cheaper than a diesel-powered tool carrier. Through Pivabo - the Belgian importer of this machine - the user can accurately calculate the total cost. Fuel costs are often underestimated and can often be reduced by 90 percent with this electric tool carrier.
Due to the elimination of the combustion engine, an electrically powered implement carrier requires much less frequent and intensive maintenance. In general you can assume that, with normal intensive use, the extra cost of investing in an electrically driven Nimos Posi-Trac pays for itself after a period of 4 to 5 years. After that, the Posi-Trac is noticeably cheaper and we see the profit - or savings - increase year after year.
At the request of a number of customers, Nimos has chosen to offer the Posi-Trac also with fusion steering. With a knuckle, this offers the advantage that once the cab passes between two obstacles, it can also pass the engine compartment. With a rear-wheel steered implement carrier, short turns around certain obstacles may be even faster than with a marble. The stability of the machine will also be slightly better.
