NL Terreinlabel offers the possibility to achieve a sustainable design of terrains and integrate it into the design, implementation and management. With this method, introduced by NL Greenlabel, a site can be assessed and certified based on 6 indicators and several sub-indicators.

The site label provides scores from A (very sustainable) to F (much room for improvement). These score labels show directly the extent to which an area is sustainable. This makes the NL Terreinlabel a great tool not only to measure the score, but also to determine the approach for the future. While organizations could previously demonstrate that their building is sustainable, thanks to the terreinlabel this is now also possible for business parks, recreational areas, sports fields, schools, residential areas, office areas and parks. The indicators measured are: design & materialization, energy & climate resilience, relationships between people & environment, soil & water, biodiversity and assurance.

In addition to responsibility in caring for our planet, there are several benefits to making areas sustainable. The savings in energy costs, but also the increased well-being for people saves money. In healthcare facilities with proper green spaces, the cost of care is lower and in workplaces, absenteeism is lower. As a result, the investment is not only sustainable, but it certainly pays for itself.
