Sooner or later paving joints fall prey to weed growth. To make paths, patios, driveways and other pavements weed-free, weeding or brushing is recommended, especially now that the use of chemical pesticides is increasingly restricted. That's quite a chore. So why not immediately add appropriate vegetation to the joints?
Nazareth-based AcTerra produces an extensive range of soil improvers and plant substrates, including TerraViva Green Grouts. This is a ready-to-use grout filler for cobblestones, megatiles, flagstones and baked clay clinkers with joints up to 20 mm. The TerraViva Green Grouts mixture is available with grass, grass with micro-clover and grass with flower mixes. The material is used in conjunction with the TerraViva Laybeds substrate and foundation substrate to allow rooting to underlying layers.
TerraViva Green Grouts is already a valuable and ecological solution. The paving looks purely natural, the plants are walkable and passable, and it encourages biodiversity. While randomly growing weeds have to be tackled on a very regular basis, mowing them only two or three times a year is sufficient. So green joints are much less labor intensive.
TerraViva Green Joints also allows rainwater to seep into the subsoil more easily. The vegetation, especially with micro clover, also provides significant absorption of nitrogen from the air. One hectare of micro clover handles the nitrogen production of forty passenger cars driving 40,000 kilometers per year.
All of AcTerra's products are unique and patented. The AcTerra customer base consists mainly of road builders and landscapers, who use the TerraViva materials in public parks and private gardens. It is important to note, however, that applying a grout mixture cannot be done once the pavement has already been laid. So everything must be planned well in advance. In addition to grout mixtures, the TerraViva range also includes substrates for soil amendments, tree planting substrates and solutions for ride-on lawn.
