De Clippeleir is a manufacturer of professional diggers, wood chippers, overtop tillers and lawn seeders. The Hamme-based company is also an importer of Italian agricultural and horticultural machinery. It represents in the Benelux Sicma, CM, COMEB, Agrator and Pneusej. Everything is supplied exclusively through agricultural mechanization companies.
The combination of import and own construction allows De Clippeleir to offer a wide range on the one hand and customer-specific solutions on the other. This can range from a customized machine to a small modification to existing types, or the attachment of a desired roller to a rotary harrow or milling machine. Because the company has a large local stock of both new machines and spare parts, it manages to keep delivery times short. Furthermore, it also has excellent after-sales service. If customers have problems with a machine, De Clippeleir does not stop until the problem is solved and the customer is satisfied. Spare parts? No problem, 45 years of machine building and importing ensures a serious stock of machine parts, which can be delivered almost immediately.
De Clippeleir's chippers in particular have become wildly popular in a relatively short period of time. Managing director Hans De Clippeleir explains: “Here we had started with the model DC 16/26, a wood chipper with feed opening 16 centimeters high and 26 centimeters wide. The wide feed-in opening and two aggressive feed rollers make it very suitable for pulling in branched wood. At the request of customers, we have developed various options for this, ranging from a folding hopper to a wheel unit and version with slewing ring.”
“The success of this model and the demand of some customers for a larger machine led to the development of our - to date - largest model: the DC 23/30 has a feed opening of 23 centimeters high and 30 centimeters wide,” De Clippeleir continues. “This model is also characterized by an unprecedented torque of the feed rollers. This machine has been updated this year with a wider more robust feed hopper and new no-stress system that is fully adjustable. This model is also optionally available with slewing ring.”
As in almost all sectors, increasing competition from China is playing an increasingly important role. However, Chinese machines are clearly of lower quality and frequently do not meet CE safety requirements at all. Add to this the fact that the prices of many Western European manufacturers are skyrocketing, and a problem may arise.
Hans De Clippeleir: “As a smaller driven company with a compact overhead, we try to respond flexibly to changes in the market and keep the selling price affordable for the end customer. Partly for this reason, we are launching a smaller model this year, the DC 12/15. This model is designed to work even with the lightest tractors. Here, customers can expect a compact machine with the build quality of a top model. With a 1-meter-wide hopper centered on the machine, it fits through most garden gates but can shred 12-inch round wood with side branches. The hopper folds up as standard, limiting its length to 1.75 meters. This machine also fully complies with the new CE standard EN 13525:2020.”
“In the future, we wish to further expand our range of chippers to strengthen our presence abroad,” the business manager concluded.
