New high-capacity compact screening bucket

New compact sieve bucket with large capacity

Everywhere we find sieves to be loaded with excavators or wheel loaders. Why not screen with the bucket itself hanging from the machine, thought Colin Smith. We just bring the sieve to the material. Thus was born the Gyrustar screening bucket. The star roller bed is built into the frame so that this new screening bucket can also serve as a real digging bucket. The company Tuboma from Oudenaarde is the exclusive importer of Gyrustar in Belgium and France.

What came before. Tuboma started sixteen years ago as a seller of garden and park machinery. Rental was soon added and the East Flemish company became a distributor of major brands such as Honda, Stihl and John Deere. Today, the company also specializes in the sale and rental of construction equipment such as mini excavators, articulated loaders, dumpers and spider cherry pickers. In mid-2016, the company established the import department.

Sieve bucket and excavator in one

Tuboma has been the exclusive distributor in Belgium - and since the beginning of this year in France - of the Gyrustar screening bucket since 2016. This machine is marketed by Wheatway Solutions.  This UK-based company builds star screening buckets with three or four rollers that can be used as an attachment on an excavator, wheel loader, telehandler or front-end loader. This makes scooping, excavating and even leveling possible with the Gyrustar. "When I discovered this screening bucket, my interest was immediately piqued," says Jeroen De Steur, business manager of Tuboma. "The advantages are numerous: the low cost price, the compactness, which facilitates transport, and the very solid construction. The unique patented design with flexible polystars allows for a large screening surface to obtain maximum capacity. With the model 4-150HE, some 60 m3 per hour processed in dry soil. Furthermore, the system is completely maintenance-free due to Gates carbon belts combined with sealed bearings."

The Gyrustar will actively process the material.

Eight models

The Gyrustar screening bucket is available in eight models with working widths of 50, 60, 80, 100, 120 cm and with three or four cleaning rollers. "A model with six rollers and a working width of 150 cm is also in the pipeline," says De Steur. The number of rollers combined with the distance between the stars determines the screening capacity, which ranges from 50 l for the smallest model to 520 l for the largest screening bin. The customer can choose more or fewer screening stars per roll; then thinner or thicker spacer rings are inserted between the stars. The more stars on a roll and therefore the smaller the distance between the stars, the finer the sifted material. The stars on the rolls are strong enough to work the material apart where needed and flexible enough not to break. When used correctly, wear on the teeth is very minimal.

Active editing of material

With a flat sieve, part of the sieve surface is not really used because pouring takes place there and the real sieving starts further up the sieve mat. The non-aggressive action of the sieve mat gives a passive effect. The Gyrustar does actively process the material. This can still be helped by shaking the container should the material get stuck or to get it through the rollers faster. In a drum sieve, the material is taken passively and shaken through the partitions in the drum. In a flat sieve, the material simply passes over the sieve without much resistance and only the inclination of the sieve table can slightly increase the cleaning effect. With the Gyrustar, the sieve teeth work the material upwards over and over again so that it is continuously actively processed.

Strong assets

Strong strengths of the Gyrustar screening bucket are its flexibility and rapid deployment. The sieving bucket is immediately operational: connect the bucket via the quick coupling, connect the two oil lines and done. Another plus is that sieving in this way requires very little space: a heap of material to be sieved, a heap of sieved product and a heap of residual product, and all within the reach of the excavator, for example.  Furthermore, the Gyrustar sieve bucket can also be used for the following applications:

- Soil and aggregates

- Separating aggregates and vegetation without crushing and shredding it

- Compost

- Separating oversized and noncompostable parts, as well as mixing and rotating to speed up the composting process

- Flights

- To accelerate drying and aeration of soil and compost

- Mixing

-Mixing pre-sorted soil and compost to improve the final product

"I firmly believe in this new screening bucket. From our customers we get nothing but positive feedback. This is a top invention," concludes De Steur.
