Michael De Craene, Business Development Manager at SMO, explains how they are becoming increasingly popular.
More than a decade ago, SMO started building its first screening machine model: the FleXiever Mobile. Today, the machine builder offers a veritable line of shaker screens, which are used in different sectors for various applications. Earthworkers, garden contractors, rental companies, green services, schools and, of course, individuals are discovering the many advantages of a FleXiever screening machine. Over the past decade, SMO has specialized in the mini and midi segment. Read: small, compact and maneuverable machines that can be used on any terrain or in any working environment.
The use of a FleXiever offers numerous possibilities. "Our screening machines can be used to screen soil with stones, wood chips and pellets, seeds, construction and demolition waste, compost, cement or crushed asphalt," Michael De Craene points out. "The list of materials to be processed is long. In fact, we no longer have to convince our regular customers of the cost-saving effect of our machines. After all, a landscaper or garden contractor wants to focus on his core business during his working hours, and not on removing contaminated soil with stones, construction waste or plant roots. If you know that it costs an average of 250 euros to transport a container of stones and other waste to a recycling park, then it is quickly clear that renting or purchasing a shake sieving machine is not only a profitable investment, but also an ecological solution due to the saving of many unnecessary transport kilometers."
SMO offers individuals and professionals a wide range of screening machines. Michael De Craene is proud of the wide choice: "We offer solutions based on different criteria: the way of transport (for example, on a trailer or in a van), the type of use (on a high-capacity site or rather sporadically small volumes), the type of engine (from diesel to electric) and the way of loading. So every customer will find something to his liking in our offer. We are constantly expanding this offer, including new drum screens that we will soon be offering in cooperation with a Czech manufacturer. By the way, this has the added advantage that we can propose all machine sizes - from small to large - but still in the mini and midi segment."
Innovation and customized solutions are also important focal points within SMO. De Craene: "Our engineering team constantly keeps its finger on the pulse of new technical developments. That way, the FleXiever screening machines always meet the strictest legal requirements. At the same time, we highly value customization for our clients. If a standard machine deviates too much from a client's wishes, we spring into action to develop a customized solution. For example, we have already built screening machines for screening flax, cottonseed, gypsum board and non-ferrous metals. We rise to every challenge!"
Michael De Craene and his colleagues place great importance on personal customer contact and outstanding service and aftercare.
"Naturally, we work closely with numerous distributors to market our machines. Slowly but steadily we have also expanded our dealer network over the last two years. Nevertheless, I still find personal advice to customers very important. That way you can select the best screening machine for a specific job. At our facility in Eeklo, we have a permanent demo area where prospects and clients can see about ten FleXiever screening machines and two excavators in action. Based on a few specific questions, I can then determine together with the client what the best solution is for him. This personal approach results in a real win-win situation: our clients can get started with the best-suited machine, and we ourselves go for a long-term client relationship."
