One of these themed auctions focuses on garden and park machinery. By reaching a larger audience, a better price can be negotiated for the sellers.

“By bundling machines from one sector in monthly theme auctions, buyers can find us more easily, they don't have to browse through all the items individually that way. In this way we ensure that the sale goes even better,” said Peter Lechat, Sales Manager at Troostwijk. Europe's largest industrial online auction house had already started organizing monthly themed auctions for agri and earthmoving machinery last year.
Due to the resounding success of these themed auctions attracting a more targeted audience, Troostwijk has rolled out the concept to other sectors this year. Thus, in addition to garden & park, internal transport & handling machines, compressors and power groups have been added to the themed auctions.

The garden and park machinery auction will be held up front every last Wednesday of the month. The upcoming auction closes on April 28, with a viewing day being held two days earlier. The auction will include under the hammer various New Holland and Kubota compact tractors, lawn and riding mowers from numerous major brands, a John Deere gator, ecosteamers, flail mowers, wood chippers and brush cutters. A total of 87 items are included in the auction.

With this concept, Troostwijk is responding to a growing demand from the market. Machines are increasingly being disposed of after one or two seasons. “We see a clear evolution in the sectors, with a higher rotation speed in the buying and selling process,” continues Lechat, who adds that sales to the Eastern Bloc are also on the rise.

The online auction house experienced strong growth during corona, during which digital commerce exploded. “We find that our auctions continue to run very well, despite the current difficult economic climate,” the sales manager says.
Troostwijk sells in 167 countries, attracted 28 million visitors who placed 6.7 million bids last year. In total, it sold 657,000 lots and the average auction easily attracts 4,000 to 5,000 participants. The online auction house, which has 350 people on its staff list and maintains headquarters in the Netherlands, has three permanent locations in Belgium where the goods are displayed in Deinze, Melreux and Lummen.
