In an industry as seasonal as landscaping and maintenance, it is not surprising that professionals turn to rental companies for numerous pieces of equipment and machinery. After all, it means less investment in hardware on the one hand and storage space on the other. Do you happen to need the exact same piece of equipment on two job sites? Then that too is quickly resolved.
Those who choose to rent rather than buy are essentially choosing flexibility. The flexibility to have the right equipment and machines available at any time and on any job site, regardless of the season or the needs of other ongoing projects, but also, for example, to benefit immediately from the new equipment, models or options that are brought onto the market.
However, that same flexibility can also have a downside. After all, those who are presented with a different device from a different manufacturer each time also have to learn about its operation and handling each time. To avoid that, choosing the right rental partner is especially essential.
Garden contractors and green professionals in East and West Flanders have long been able to visit one of Huurland's ten branches, but with the recent acquisition of Global Rent Boortmeerbeek, the family-owned company is now expanding its reach further in the direction of Antwerp, Limburg and Flemish Brabant.
"The synergy with Global Rent was abundantly clear," says Sofie Ameloot. "Not only did they share the same family values and structure, but their offerings overlapped with ours to a large extent, both in terms of types of equipment and brands. This is an important asset, because it means that everyone - Global Rent's original customers on the one hand and our existing customers on the other - can continue to count on the same well-known brands and appliances today. More even, in Boortmeerbeek, from now on they will be able to enjoy a wider range and thus more availability and flexibility."
The acquisition fits perfectly into Huurland's growth strategy, which also includes the construction of a new headquarters with training center and specialization branch for large equipment. "Our ambition is to become a leading rental company throughout Flanders. In the sense that even garden contractors who sporadically need to work in another region will always have the same reliable equipment, machinery and service at their disposal."
That Huurland's new headquarters, currently being built in the De Prijkels industrial zone in Nazareth/Deinze, will feature a fully-fledged training center, by the way, is no coincidence. "Anyone who wants to work with a forklift, telehandler or aerial work platform needs a certificate. Today, we already offer the necessary day training courses for this at four locations in Belgium, in cooperation with Syntra. They provide both a practical and theoretical basis and those who pass the exam receive a certificate for five years."
The construction of the new center will further expand the existing training offerings. "For our customers, this is another advantage. In the practical part of the training, anyone who takes the course with us will get to know very closely those aerial work platforms and telehandlers that are everywhere in our range. These include articulated and spider aerial work platforms up to 26 meters and telehandlers up to 4 tons and 18 meters."
