Vakbeurs Openbare Ruimte very successful

On February 6, 2020, Brussels Expo was once again entirely dedicated to public space. The largest event for design, layout, maintenance and management of public space was complemented this year by the Climate Trade Fair and the Mobility Trade Fair. This 3-in-1 concept was a great success.

The number of visitors increased by 27 % over last year. As many as 1,590 professionals visited the fair on February 6, 2020. The trade fair was all about networking, knowledge sharing and innovations. There were 180 enthusiastic exhibitors on the show floor this year. The fair covered the main themes: Advice & Management, Landscaping & Design, Paving, Playing, Lighting, Street Furniture, Green, Mobility and Climate, the latter two of which were given additional exposure on their own section of the exhibition floor: Mobility Trade Fair and Climate Trade Fair.

Never before have so many fair visitors amassed knowledge at the more than 40 lectures, spread over seven lecture rooms. These included Boomkwekerij Ebben's eye-catching yellow safari bus, Vlario's Theater with umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, the Mobility and Climate Klap where people listened to the speakers with headphones and ITS' beautifully decorated and spacious Theater. The most popular lectures were "Vertical forests: city of the future" by Van den Berk Nurseries and "The multifunctional and biodiverse wadi", given by Aquafin.

On the exhibition floor, visitors encountered several initiatives. For example, throughout the day an illustrator collected input from visitors and exhibitors to create an illustration about the future of public space. What innovations will color our future? How do we keep cities accessible and climate-proof? At the end of the day, a large canvas filled with future-proof innovations and solutions showed off on the exhibition floor.
