Oenosan® is a Belgian innovation based on nanotechnology. "Our biologically certified lime fertilizer makes plants more resistant, whether it's a ground cover, a shrub or an overgrown tree," says Katia Welvaert of Oenosan®. "The product does not attack the attacker, but significantly increases the plant's immunity. Strong plants are better able to overcome diseases and pests and resist extreme conditions. We apply the natural principle: strengthen nature with elements from nature."

The powder is dissolved in water and sprayed on the leaves in the morning, when the stomata are open. The result is firm green foliage that is extremely resistant in times of prolonged drought. By bypassing the root system, results are achieved in a very short time that would normally require a full vegetative season. After three sprays you can already clearly see the positive impact on the plant. The plant does need about five sprays per year, but this effort is very rewarding: less investment in water, labor and new plantings. Moreover, a 5 kilogram package of Oenosan® is good for no less than 3,333 liters of solution (1.5 gram/liter of water).
By spraying Oenosan® onto the leaf, the plant's water retention is noticeably increased and total water requirements can be reduced by up to 70%. In concrete terms, this means saving thousands of liters of water as well as preserving valuable trees and plants. After all, thick, healthy leaves contain higher concentrations of chlorophyll and are less subject to evaporation. Due to the significant increase in sap flow, substances are easily transported up to the upper canopy and into the root system.
Effect of drought: brown spots and curled up edges.
"More than 80 Flemish cities and municipalities are already using Oenosan® to protect their plants from drought, reduce water needs and thus sustainably support their green projects," says Katia Welvaert. "Growers, arborists, landscapers and viticulturists have also found their way to our product. Applications on green roofs and sports fields are currently being tested in abundance."
Oenosan® is also a proud partner in Project Malinas. To make way for the Malinas shopping park (loop R6 in Mechelen-North), specialized contractors moved some twenty valuable trees, including a maple tree weighing some 60 tons, in mid-May 2020. These were relocated on the site. The aftercare was done in cooperation with Bergenboomverzorging. The big maple and the oaks were sprayed with Oenosan® shortly after transplanting via aerial platforms. A recovery of the trees was already observed after three sprays. A total of five treatments were carried out. Despite the extreme drought and the late transplanting in May, the trees are doing well and their chances of survival are high.

"With our biologically certified lime fertilizer, we would like to make a contribution to the planet," says Katia Welvaert. "More chlorophyll results in optimal binding of CO2 and additional production of oxygen, which in turn contributes to a healthier and more pleasant living environment. In addition, we are proud of our organic certificate and our product is harmless to humans, animals and especially our vulnerable bee populations. We want to build a total concept with our customers that is committed to healthy and quality greenery. Therefore, we offer our professional customers free route guidance and support. We are only satisfied when our customer is happy and the plant flourishes optimally."
