Shred large volumes of wood waste reliably

That is what Vandewiele Recycling puts into practice every day from its two sites in Gistel and Wervik, as well as on-site at customers' premises. Wood, green waste, food waste ... are processed there according to the rules of the art. The company relies on Vermeer's reliable machines. Recently a Vermeer TG9000 joined the ranks for extra capacity.

Vandewiele Recycling was founded in 2000 under the driving force of Günther Vandewiele. In no time, the company managed to make a name for itself in shredding green and garden waste. Wife and co-manager Vanessa De Vinck: "Our starting point is the same for every job: always find the best possible solution to give the material a second life. As biomass, compost, basic raw material for the chipboard industry ... We try to recycle all wood waste for 100% and find a new useful application for it." To this end, Vandewiele Recycling has two delivery sites, in Gistel and in Wervik, together accounting for 7 ha. "This is where mainly smaller quantities of material are delivered. The bulk of the volume we actually obtain by working on site at the customer's premises."

Robust character

All this requires a strong team. Today, Vandewiele Recycling can count on fourteen employees. But it also requires machines that on the one hand can handle a large volume and on the other hand prove themselves as reliable workers. This is why Vandewiele Recycling has been relying on Vermeer machines since 2002. "The robust nature of these machines is their greatest asset. They are American-made and designed with such quality that we have very little downtime due to machine problems. Since our machines are used on site at the customer's premises, it is crucial that the material be processed as efficiently as possible. This reliable operation is also an important calling card for us," De Vinck summarizes. 

More flexibility

Due to the growth experienced by Vandewiele, there was recently a need for a new addition to the machine park. This should help create more capacity and further optimize logistics. De Vinck explains: "Machines used to go from our depot to fulfill assignments all over the country. With the strength in width, we can now keep one machine per region available for our customers. That means better service, but also a lower logistical cost because we don't make unnecessary trips." Vandewiele Recycling chose the Vermeer TG9000. Not the first model of this type to make its appearance. "Thanks to the wide hopper (diameter of 4 m), which is quite unique after all, we can be particularly flexible in the materials we process. Logs, roots, small material ... this machine puts its teeth into everything with high efficiency and high capacity. We are particularly satisfied with it," says De Vinck.

Excellent service 

The same can be said about cooperation. De Vinck: "We have been working well together for years. The machines perform as desired and the service is also excellent. The advantage of always choosing the same brand is that we already have a good grip on the technology ourselves now. For example, our machine operators can carry out minor repairs themselves. Or they can perfectly direct the Vermeer technicians in case of a bigger problem, so that they have the right spare parts with them and we are back up and running in no time."
