New building and talent for Advanta
Advanta is part of Limagrain, Europe's largest plant breeder and provider of seeds for professional use in the green and agricultural sectors. The company offers professionals the latest variety genetics and seed technology, tailored to the requirements of modern green space management. Their high-quality grass and field flower mixtures are used in lawns, public green spaces, sports fields, golf courses and infrastructure projects.
The company also continues to grow rapidly, so a new location had to be sought. And fresh blood. In the person of Karel Vercruysse, who will assist Erik Truyers as sales and marketing assistant.
What sets Advanta apart is their innovative approach to lawn management. They have developed specific mixtures and cultivars that can withstand heavy use, shade, drought and other challenges commonly found on athletic fields. Through continuous research and development, they strive to improve and innovate grass seeds to meet the ever-changing needs of the industry.Karel Vercruysse: "You can take that innovative nature very literally. Also with myself. Because with my previous employer I was part of the research and development department. When I transferred to Advanta in the fall of 2022, I literally went from plants to customers. And it's a good place to be here. Because the quality of the mixtures is particularly high. We work here with our own label with which we achieve no less than 98% purity for English ryegrass, for example. A lot higher than what the European standard dictates. We select our varieties very carefully and only use the top of the annually published variety list."
Karel Vercruysse: "We know that different regions and climates have specific requirements for field flower mixtures. Therefore, we have developed adapted mixtures for different conditions, such as dry areas, humid environments and shady locations. These mixtures are composed of seeds of flowers with different flowering periods, creating a beautiful palette of colors throughout the year.
Thus, we create a specific product for each situation. No passe-partouts. Only the best germination and highest purity are good enough.
We also constantly adapt to changing weather and climate conditions. Because traditional sowing times also change as a result. And therefore our mixtures are always evaluated and adjusted if necessary."
Because the old headquarters in Avelgem was no longer adequate, a new building was recently erected in Kluisbergen. The building is fully adapted to the current safety and production standards. Karel Vercruysse: "With our new headquarters, we are already taking some major steps.
Consider the greatly increased safety of production and workers. And because we built not only a production environment but also offices, hard thought was also given to comfort and ergonomics. Steps were also taken in seven-mile boots in terms of sustainability. We do far-reaching water buffering, there are a lot of solar panels on the roof, a heat pump was installed and we work exclusively with electric forklifts."
"With us, homogeneous mixtures are of prime importance. So hard work was done on purity of quality. Our mixing plants of meadow mixtures are now completely separate from lawn mixtures. Transport has also been optimized. Thus, at no time are surpluses to be found. Apart from the speed of delivery and greatly increased service we can now offer. Finally, we also thought about our packaging. There too we now have many more options. We can go from 5 to 25 kilograms, but it's also no problem to easily fill 100-gram bags. We are, in other words, all set for the future and further growth of Advanta!"
