John Deere launches electrification and connectivity for greenkeepers
Cofabel is mainly known as the exclusive importer and distributor in Belgium of John Deere agricultural, garden and park machinery and equipment for the maintenance of golf and sports grounds. The American brand has existed for more than 184 years and is the undeniable market leader with a solid reputation. Especially the tractors - above 150 hp - are and still remain the standard, worldwide.
But as of now, greenkeepers can also sleep on both ears. Because at John Deere, the electrification of machinery, large and small, is booming. Moreover, the American manufacturer is now extending electrification and connectivity to its golf equipment. In this way, it offers greenkeepers the opportunity to be more environmentally friendly and sustainable, but without compromising on performance. Says Lieven Beyl, group sales & marketing director at Cofabel, "The new 100% electric John Deere E-CutTM series completely eliminates the use of fuel and engine oil. The hybrid models use much less fuel and have fewer potential leakage points. In addition, connectivity is being introduced as standard across the range. This allows greenkeepers to track the status - hours of operation, maintenance, battery status, idling... - of their machines via onlink.
on MyJohnDeere.com."
Lieven Beyl: "The John Deere E-CutTM Walk Greens Mower operates almost silently, thus expanding the 'working window'. So the operator can now work both early in the morning and late at night without disturbing anyone. But it's not just enough to eliminate fuel/engine oil. One of the most important components of electrification is a reliable battery. That's why John Deere makes sure all batteries last at least eight hours at full power."
The John Deere E-CutTM Walk Greens mowers can cut approximately 4,650 sq. ft. on a single charge with their 58-volt, 3.2kwh lithium battery.
Both machines feature an advanced TechControlTM display, which allows supervisors to adjust cutting frequency based on cage and travel speed. They also offer 10 handlebar height positions, plus front/rear adjustment and an exclusive Cleanup Pass mode for maximum comfort and ease of operation and turning. The 185 E-CutTM has a cutting width of 46 cm, while the larger 225 E-CutTM has a cutting width of 56 cm.
The electric reels on the new John Deere Hybrid fairway mower save up to 30% of fuel and reduce noise levels without compromising performance. In addition, eliminating more than 150 hydraulic leak points has reduced the risk of leaks 90%. Mowing or scarifying under tough conditions? No problem!
The LoadMatchTM feature slows the speed of the machine when the engine is struggling, maintaining the speed of the cutting units and always prioritizing quality. The 6700A E-Cut is a hybrid fairway mower with three wheels for excellent maneuverability in tight turns.
"John Deere has been at the forefront of connectivity for agricultural equipment for many years. And now the golf industry can also enjoy the benefits of the John Deere Operations CenterTM. It serves as a management tool for the entire fleet and provides a 'Loc History' with accurate documentation of machine usage, fuel levels and diagnostic trouble codes."
"In addition, it is possible to set a 'geofence' and curfew. Both alert the user to suspicious use and thus increase theft protection. The software is free, both as a mobile application and browser version. Knowing that John Deere will later also enter the market with electric tractors and commercial mowers, we look to the future with confidence," concludes Lieven Beyl.
