Down to the centimeter
Belrobotics is constantly looking for new features for its professional automatic mowers. In that quest, Belrobotics engineers have developed a new accessory with an RTK-GPS guidance system that knows how to cut the grass down to the centimeter!
Several customers are already using this new GPS technology and they are all extremely positive. One of them is the Belgian Football Center in Tubize, which has several soccer fields on which the Red Devils, as well as the youth teams, train. So the grass has to be perfectly mowed to enable soccer at the highest level. It is hard work for the greenkeepers, because they have to make sure that the fields are playable at all times and thus have to manage the mowing schedules well.

Frédéric Veraghaenne, director of operations at the Belgian Football Center, explains that the RTK system has the advantage of allowing the fields to be mowed faster by avoiding multiple passes in the same spot during the same mowing. Because the fields are used a lot, time management is a complex issue. Gaining time thus provides
benefits on.
For the Keymolen company, this is even more important. After all, a classic robotic mower without RTK technology would take up to five days to mow its yard. Because its Bigmow is equipped with this technology, that time can be reduced to three passages of two hours! After each passage, the mower must be charged, but even then the time gained is impressive.
However, this technology affects not only the mowing time, but also how much grass that different models can cut. After all, a smaller mower can mow a larger area because less time is lost. In addition, parts such as the wheels or bearings are less likely to wear out, since the robot only mows in the specifically designated areas.

Thanks to this high-tech guidance system, the mowers can now mow in straight lines. The user can currently choose from eight configurations. Moreover, with this configuration, a robot will no longer turn, because it will not see an area with longer grass as an obstacle. This is good for professional sports fields that must always look perfect!
Finally, RTK-GPS technology can be installed on all our models in the Connected Line range. An antenna is placed on the robot and the field to be mowed, and an additional module is also connected to the computer. Thanks to these elements, the exact position of the mower can be found out and it can mow faster and in straight lines.
Currently, the system works on the basis of a Wi-Fi signal with a range of up to 250 to 300 meters. To increase this area, amplifiers can also be used. Belrobotics engineers are currently looking one step further and want to deploy 4G to make customers' lives even easier!
