The Gebroeders Geens KM 140 E Knikmops, which was presented to the general public earlier this year, not only combines a compact chassis with a lot of power for this purpose, but also runs entirely electrically. In other words, the articulated loader is a versatile assistant for any landscaper.

The Knikmops has been a fixture for gardeners in the Benelux for years. The aim of manufacturer Gebroeders Geens nv, known for Knikmops and Rollmops, is to relieve the worker of as much physical labor as possible. To this end, the family business has been manufacturing multifunctional machines that excel in sturdiness for more than 30 years. With a chassis made almost entirely of high-grade steel, a Knikmops is sure to take a beating.

Economy first

Earlier this year, Gebroeders Geens nv introduced the new Knikmops KM 140 E. In developing this electric variant, the emphasis was on economy. For example, work is being done around a small battery. Not only does this keep the weight and size of the articulated loader down, but it also significantly reduces the charging time. Perhaps more importantly, it keeps the price down. After all, it is primarily the battery that determines the cost of electric machines.

At the same time, the basic Knikmops values - compact, multifunctional and durable - naturally remain intact. The compact steel chassis is robust and designed for hard work, and you can also count on the Knikmops' well-known strength. The KM 140 E lifts about 1,500 kg and is therefore comparable in capacity to its diesel variant, the Knikmops KM 140. In addition, drivers will be pleasantly surprised by the travel speed: the Knikmops KM 140 E travels at a brisk 16 km/h, with no emissions.

Two types

For the entrepreneur who wants to switch to zero emission, Gebroeders Geens immediately comes up with two options. On the one hand, there is the Knikmops KM 140 E Standard, with a 20 kWh battery. This machine allows an average of 5 hours of solid work, while a quick charger charges the battery from 0 to 80 percent in just 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Would you like to be able to work longer? Then there's the Knikmops KM 140 E Endurance. Thanks to the 30 kWh battery, the Knikmop driver can work for about 8 hours at a stretch, and charging with a quick charger takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Silence, garden expert at work

Many requests for the electric applications come from the horticultural sector, mainly companies operating in urbanized areas. Here peace and quiet are often of great importance. Last year, many people chose to beautify their garden with possibly a swimming pond. With this comes the need to move a lot of soil quickly, but with as little noise pollution as possible for neighbors or home owners.

Gebroeders Geens conducted extensive tests with the electric Knikmops KM 140 E to assess what its capabilities were and where further work was needed. For this they worked together with local entrepreneurs, who tested the electric Knikmops loader in practice. Here, experience showed that the rustling noise of the electric motors was much less likely to be perceived as disturbing. This allowed the entrepreneur to start work earlier and not have to schedule the earthwork around neighborhood schedules.
