Chipping and shredding with one machine

Chopping and shredding with one machine

Solution for those who do not want a bulky fleet of vehicles

You want to serve your customers smoothly and appropriately in every season, but don't have the ability to build up an extensive fleet of machines with equipment that is only used a few months or weeks a year? Herco Machinery understands this all too well. With the Wallenstein BXM series, the garden machinery specialist from Rijkevorsel has a nice two-in-one solution for both shredding and chipping in its range.

The Wallenstein BXM series includes four multifunctional machines: the two gasoline-powered BXMC models are compact and aimed at the private market; the two remaining models are PTO-powered and specifically designed for green services and garden contractors with tractors. In each case, the machine has two separate feed hoppers, making it suitable for shredding branches in winter on the one hand, and shredding leaves and trimmings in summer on the other. Combining these functions makes the unit a boon for the price- and space-conscious garden contractor. "Certainly in the professional market, these are unique machines," knows Gunther Hermans of Herco Machinery, "which incidentally are not inferior to their mono-functional counterparts in terms of performance."

At 26 by 26 cm, the BXM 42's compost mill has the largest opening on the market.

The professional BXM 32 and BXM 42 both feature a high-performance disc chopper, suitable for wood and branches with diameters of up to 7.6 cm (BXM 32) and 10.2 cm (BXM 42), respectively. "True, there is no feed roller," says Hermans, "but compared to other shredders, these Wallenstein machines have one huge advantage: they have a sharp angle of attack. That means that the wood ends up on the blade at an angle, so it is cut with the grain. This requires less energy from both the operator and the machine and reduces wear and tear."

Compost mill

More importantly at this time of year, the BXM machines also function as full-fledged compost mills. For this purpose, the professional models are equipped with 27 to 30 reversible rotor blades, with which leaves, prunings and twigs up to 2.5 cm (BXM 32) or even 5.1 cm (BXM 42) can be pulverized without any problem, after which they can be blown directly into a trailer, for example, via the ejector pipe at the top. "Unique here is the large opening at the rotor," Hermans emphasizes. "This is at 26 by 26 centimeters, in the case of the BXM 42, the largest on the market."
