Smart and beautiful water buffering in gardens and flat roofs

Densification in residential areas and the associated surfacing of the subsurface forces us to be more conscious and efficient in our use of rainwater. Buffering has become a necessity. Ecco Products in Merelbeke is a product developer and manufacturer of user-friendly, sustainable and reliable solutions. 

Ecco Products' latest product is the Drainbase, a water-buffering plastic tile that can be finished with an artificial grass mat. Previously, the company launched the already familiar ECCOgravel gravel mats and ECCOdal synthetic turf slabs.

For the garden or on the roof

In the garden, buffering ensures that water is gradually released to the subsoil and can slowly infiltrate. On flat roofs, buffering prevents overloading of gutters, drains and wells during peaks of heavy rainfall. In both applications, the Drainbase plastic tiles are covered with an artificial grass mat. Not only does this add aesthetic value, it also constitutes a guaranteed maintenance-free solution. An additional advantage is that no foundation work is required.

Technological marvel

The Drainbase artificial grass slab is a solution that is as simple as it is technologically advanced. The light, sturdy and pressure-distributing plastic tile in recycled HDPE is suitable for any surface. With its dimensions of 60 x 60 x 3 centimeters, the tile boasts an excellent water buffering capacity of as much as thirty liters per square meter. Drainbase maintains a high degree of elasticity even at extremely low temperatures. The tiles are attached to each other by means of a patented flexible connection system, which allows them to shrink or expand during significant temperature fluctuations.

Made for artificial turf

Both in the garden and on the roof, the Drainbase slabs are covered with an artificial grass mat. To this end, each slab was fitted with 1010 non-slip pins at the top to keep the artificial grass nicely in place and protect the backing from damage and wear. The artificial grass is fastened to the tiles using integrated fastening caps and special screws. Edging profiles prevent the turf from curling up and keep out pests.

Drainbase significantly increases the lifespan of the artificial grass mats, ensures a perfect distribution of the load to the subsoil and a beautiful even artificial lawn in the garden or on the (flat) roof. All in all, a sustainable solution, and a blessing for the environment as well as pleasing to the eye.
