Online rental is on the rise

The 100% Belgian rental company, with ten branches spread across Flanders, therefore continues to invest in order to serve customers faster and faster.

"For garden contractors and green services, we have had an extensive range of quality machines available for years," says Ameloot. "We recently supplemented that further with, among other things, a compost spreader, a four-stroke pile rammer, mini-excavators of up to 8 tons and various mini-dumpers - we now have, for example, an electric motorized dump truck (300 kg) from Truxta, a high tip tracked dumper (550 kg) from Wacker Neuson and a Hinowa tracked dumper (2.5 tons) where the cab can be rotated the full 180°. Our new manual levelers are also proving hugely popular, and judging by the hot summer, the overseeder tractors will also be in high demand again this fall."

The range of spider work platforms was expanded to include models with working heights of 15, 20 and even 26 meters.

Spider aerial platforms up to 26 meters

The most significant recent investment, however, fell in the range of aerial work platforms. There, the range of spider boom lifts was expanded to include models with working heights of 15, 20 and even 26 meters. "Especially with a view to autumn pruning work, these Hinowa Bi-energy machines offer some important advantages," Ameloot assures. "These are spider work platforms on tracks, which can also be made very narrow. So you can maneuver them perfectly over difficult terrain and through narrow gates." A passage 1 meter wide is sufficient for the largest model; for smaller models, 80 centimeters is already sufficient.

Manual levelers are a popular addition to the rental offerings.

Even more convenient is the limited weight of the machines. "With the exception of the largest model, which weighs 4,365 kilograms, the weight of all the spider boom lifts is under 3,000 kilograms. Compared to other aerial platforms, that's a trifle, and it also allows the aerial platforms - provided you have an appropriate vehicle, trailer and driver's license - to be transported by yourself. That's handy when you want to handle all your pruning work sequentially in different locations."

Reserving an aerial platform or other machine is not only possible over the phone these days, but also directly through the Huurland website. "During the corona period, we saw a significant increase in the number of Internet reservations," Ameloot said, "and even after this difficult period, we will continue to focus strongly on online rental. After all, it is dead simple and convenient: you choose the machine, the rental period, the branch or the place of delivery. You can pay directly and those who work on account order without a deposit. The discount for our Pro Pass customers is also automatically calculated. Professionals are thus no longer tied to our opening hours and can submit and process their rental request 24 on 24 and 7 on 7."

As a result of the hot summer, overseeding will not be a luxury this fall.

Future plans

Finally, Ameloot hints at future efficiencies. "In 2021, we are building a new headquarters in Deinze. The central services and large machines will be gathered there, and we plan to expand substantially in aerial work platforms, earthmoving and groups. Moreover, by combining all logistics and maintenance in Deinze, we will be able to serve our customers even faster."
