Since 1947, the Dutch company Herder is known for developing and building machines for the maintenance of watercourses and roadsides. Herder stands for the highest quality, best results, long life and ergonomic working. The Belgian import of Herder has been in the hands of Pivabo BV in Kortrijk since 2008.

Robust and user-friendly

Herder makes customized machines. Each one is characterized by reliability and efficiency. Herder machines are handmade by specialists and prove themselves day after day in practice. Herder mowing arms are sold mainly to contractors and public services.

Herder's most powerful and well-known mowing arm is the Grenadier. It makes it possible to perform various jobs under the toughest conditions. The Cavalier is intended for the middle segment of the market. Most implements are interchangeable between Grenadier and Cavalier. However, some implements (such as the well-known Herder guardrail mower) can only be mounted on the Grenadier mowing arm. The Musketier is particularly suitable for working with a flail mower in roadside management because of the unique Herder soil tracking system.

Of course, it is possible to customize your preferred machine according to your personal needs and requirements. Since Herder produces more than twenty different proprietary implements, the cutting arm must be correctly hydraulically configured. Therefore, Pivabo has several product specialists who can assist you in the configuration of your machine.

Acquisition of Fermex

In 2011, Herder acquired the intellectual property of the well-known Fermex brand. That range of stump tillers was an ideal addition to the already existing offering. With this, Herder now has a full range of stump grinders for tractor bodies and crane bodies, as well as for self-propelled models up to 110 hp. These machines are now offered under the Herder-Fermex brand name. Many rental companies have switched to the fully hydraulically driven self-propelled tillers in recent years due to the limited number of wear parts and correspondingly low maintenance costs.

Recently, Herder-Fermex can also supply three types of tree cutters for excavators from 8 to 18 tons. The heavy-duty gripping arms, the double blade movement and the catch basket ensure perfect cutting of shrubs, branches or even entire trees.

Work tool carrier Herder One

One of the most recent developments at Herder is the self-propelled tool carrier Herder One, a total solution for roadside and ditch maintenance in the broadest sense.

The Herder One is a total concept that focuses on safety, ergonomics, economy and employability. The Herder One was created from the idea that arm and vehicle become one, provide one superior quality and have one service point for maintenance.

The Herder One has numerous advantages for the operator, including a rotating cab, which gives the operator maximum overview of the work. This not only increases safety, but also comfort because the operator can assume the perfect position, both when working and in transport position. The spacious cab forms a pleasant workplace, equipped with every possible luxury, including the unique Herder controls for the boom set and implements.

The Herder One is a versatile machine, which can be used with both mowing basket and flail mower. Of course, it is also possible to equip the machine with all the other implements Herder has in its range, such as guardrail mowers or weed brushes. This wide applicability means that the machine can be used all year round, both at the ditch side and on the roadside.

Ready for the future

In addition to the development of the One, Herder also recently added a new powerful and radio-controlled implement carrier to its range. The Herder CR10 can be front-equipped with various implements such as a flail mower, forestry mower or stump grinder. The machine has a particularly low center of gravity, an engine of 55 or 74 hp and separately adjustable tracks, making working on slopes even easier.

With the well-known range of mower arms, the extensive arsenal of implements, the recently developed Herder One and CR-10 implement carriers, Herder looks to the future with hope.
