What started many years ago as a one-man gardening business has grown into a specialised wholesaler of quality garden materials. Years of experience in the garden sector and a nose for innovation make E.L.S. Garden in Laakdal the partner of choice for garden projects. As a wholesaler, E.L.S. Garden has an extensive range. Ranging from paving over garden fences to decoration, custom-made natural stone and various types of maintenance products. Daughter Els and father Ivo Meynen assist each customer with personal advice and provide the most suitable materials for each customer's specific needs.
Nose for quality and innovation
E.L.S. Garden came into being in 2014, but the company's roots run deeper. In ’78, Ivo started a one-man gardening business in Balen-Olmen. A lack of choice in garden paving and decoration in our country made him look for solutions in French quarries. Soon, in addition to gardening, the sale of high-quality garden materials took centre stage. More and more, Ivo started looking for natural stone and other materials. Also outside Europe. With the biggest imports coming from China and India.
Over time, daughter Els also found her way into the sector and started her own business together with her father in 2014. Within the new company E.L.S. Garden in Laakdal, they focus on selling exclusive and high-quality garden materials to professionals at home and abroad.
“E.L.S. Garden is not just another wholesaler,” Els explains. “We always strive, in consultation with our customers, to offer innovative and exclusive garden products. Things that add real value to our sector.”
Customised advice
“In doing so, we pride ourselves on always advising our customers honestly about the pros and cons of our materials. So that they have enough information to make the right choice. Moreover, customers can always count on comprehensive advice on garden landscaping, garden maintenance, materials... Always tailored to their specific project.” What goal E.L.S. Garden always has in mind? “Sustainability: quality for a long time. Customer satisfaction goes beyond just today. We want him to be satisfied in the long term as well.”
Responding to trends
Like Ivo back then, the duo still regularly travels abroad to visit quarries there themselves. “Take our natural stone from China now, where we choose the materials ourselves. That material is shaped completely naturally and no two end products look alike. Ideal for incorporating into paving in the garden. In this area, we specialise in custom-made natural stone. A terrace made from the same material as the edge of the pool? Or a matching staircase? Anything is possible. And exceptional quality is always guaranteed.”

Specialised range
Besides natural stone, E.L.S. Garden also has a specialised range of other garden materials. “We have a wide range of coping stones for edging lawns, flower beds or garden paths. When laid flat, they can serve as stepping stones or wall coverings. You can also find facade skirting, palisades and retaining walls to practically bridge height differences.”
And there are also modern garden screens, integratable into any garden. “Many people choose a garden screen with a natural look to match the green character of their garden. The stone screens within that category are ideal for building thin walls at great heights.”
Heather mats are also perfect for incorporation as garden fencing. “These consist of braided tree heather with galvanised and plasticised wires. This makes for a durable and strong whole. They are also visible and wind-protective, ideal also for decoration.”
Packaged materials
“What most customers see as a huge advantage and a strong added value for the company is the compactly packed materials. Gravel and boulders, for example, are packed in big bags. This greatly simplifies logistics, which initially translates into clean and tidy deliveries at favourable rates all over Belgium (groupages). This also makes handling or moving the materials on site a lot easier.”
