More choice, better support and new opportunities in Benelux
The acquisition of Pols by SMT Netherlands marks a significant move in the world of professional vegetable technology, recycling and grounds management. Both parties were each strong in their respective fields, but together form one of the broadest and most forward-looking portfolios in the sector. What does this collaboration mean? More choice, better support and a more integrated approach.
The aim is to combine the best of both worlds. SMT brings its years of experience in construction and material handling machinery, while Pols is known for its strong brand portfolio in vegetable technology, recycling and soil suction.

With the acquisition, SMT adds an impressive range of brands to its existing portfolio. Among others, Pols represents Kioti, Ransomes, Jacobsen, LM Trac, Doppstadt, Keestrack and RSP. The result is a portfolio ranging from compact tractors and professional mowers to high-tech recycling equipment and soil suction systems.
“Our customers expect total solutions more than ever,” says Ben Möhlmann (Sales SMT). “By bringing Pols into the SMT family, we can serve the entire chain: from grounds maintenance and sports field management to heavy recycling applications. We strengthen each other at every level.”
In concrete terms, this means that professionals can turn to one supplier for machinery, parts service, maintenance and rental solutions. Cross-sector customers - e.g. contractors doing both landscaping and infrastructure projects - also benefit from the synergy.
SMT stressed that Pols' customer-centric approach in particular provided significant added value. Pols had played a key role in technical support and dealer guidance for years. Integrating that expertise into SMT's extensive service apparatus creates a network with more capacity, more knowledge and a wider spread.
A key pillar in the joint strategy is the further expansion of pay-per-use models and project-based rentals. Ben Möhlmann clarifies: “We see that the sector needs flexibility. Not everyone wants or can invest in an entire fleet of machines. With our combined rental and service formulas, we want to lower that threshold.”

A first visible result of the closer cooperation is the announcement of the Ransomes MP670, the successor to the successful MP653. “The MP670 is an example of where we want to go,” says Möhlmann. “A machine that combines innovation, ease of use and reliability - exactly what the market demands. Thanks to our cooperation, we can make this kind of innovation faster and more widely available.”
Although the partnership formally starts from the Netherlands, the impact for Belgium and Luxembourg is significant. SMT has a strong position in the Benelux and the integration of Pols' brand portfolio ensures a wider supply and better availability of parts and service.

The cooperation marks an important step towards an integrated, forward-looking approach in professional landscaping. With a strengthened offering, shared expertise and innovations such as the new Ransomes MP670, the foundation is laid for a solid, Benelux-wide growth story.
