Solutions to raise awareness about water consumption

Spray schedules according to evaporation, precipitation and temperature

Arts Perry Garden Irrigation is a specialist in the design, calculation and installation of irrigation systems. For both private individuals and companies. Everything for this is done in-house. This guarantees a smooth and fast service. 

Perry Arts, business manager: “We install everything from sprinkler systems, from small drip systems to large, fully automated irrigation and related equipment. We are also increasingly being asked to provide automated watering of green facades and roof gardens, both outdoors and indoors. The latter then involves quite sophisticated home automation. That particular version of automation has really only been on the market for about seven years. Everything, of course, has to do with further awareness of water consumption. Therefore, more and more flow meters are being installed so that the customer knows exactly what water consumption can be expected at any time. Spray schedules are then adjusted according to evaporation, precipitation and temperature. This technique is also used for all kinds of sports fields and horse tracks.”

Total relief

The Maldegem-based family business operates mainly in East and West Flanders and was founded in 1990 by father Peter. Whereas in the beginning the company specialised mainly in garden landscaping, since its takeover by son Perry in 2018, it exclusively designs and installs sprinkler systems. 

Perry Arts: “We like to produce everything in-house, which makes the lines of communication with the customer considerably shorter. And if we don't have the right expertise in-house, we work with trusted subcontractors. Who we then also monitor ourselves. So the customer has a real one-point-of-access, in most cases even me. We also offer maintenance contracts, if required. Based on the system, that way the appropriate annual maintenance is offered, including quick repairs.‘

Vibrating plough

Noticing that Arts Perry Garden Irrigation was mainly in demand for gardens larger than 750 m², it also recently invested in a vibrating plough to install cables, pipes even faster and more efficiently: the SPX25 from Vermeer. The plough from that US manufacturer features rubber tracks, a 25hp Kohler gas engine and a fully functional remote control that gives the operator a 360-degree unobstructed view of the jobsite.

Applications such as installing pipes around buildings can present various challenges, such as narrow gates, fences and other common obstacles. The SPX25 plough minimises these concerns. Operators no longer need to operate the machine from behind, meaning they can stand where they have the best view. Thanks to this design, the plough is compact enough for excellent performance in tight spaces.

“With its 25hp engine, the SPX25 has more than enough power to install small pipes and cables up to a depth of 1 metre. With a ground pressure of 3.7 psi, the plough's dual rubber tracks ensure good floatation on soft ground. As a result, there is much less unwanted damage to the existing lawn, and repairs afterwards are absolutely minimal,” concludes Perry Arts.
