Jo Beau keeps design, development and production firmly under one roof

Demand from professionals for electrically driven machines not yet as high in Benelux

Jo Beau was founded in 1989 by Jozef Beauprez from Bruges and is known for its compact and professional garden machinery. In the meantime, the company has become a true innovator in the field of stump grinders, scarifiers and (mobile) shredders. Jozef Beauprez himself developed the Jo Beau-Trummel technology™ for the well-known yellow wood shredders.

Today, Jo Beau is a second-generation family business, headed by youngest son Christophe Beauprez. Over the years, the Bruges-based company has earned its stripes as a founder in the world of compact mobile shredders, stump tillers and scarifiers. Because from design to final product: it all happens in Bruges. Christophe Beauprez has always applied the same philosophy to the entire range, almost every model of which can be personalized with different options tailored to the user. The garden machines are completely designed for ease of use: their compactness makes them easily deployable even in a highly urbanized environment.

Gasoline versus batteries

In the field of wood chippers, Jo Beau supplies a total package: from machines driven by gasoline engines, to machines with an electric motor. Machines that can be connected to the universal joint shaft or hydraulics of the tractor are also very popular. Christophe Beauprez: "We have noticed that in the Benelux, the demand for electrically driven professional machines is not yet so great. Most of our customers opt for gasoline because it allows them to work in different gardens with sometimes very narrow passages. In Germany, however, the demand for electrically driven motors is growing very strongly."

M600 becomes largest chopper in range

Jo Beau started producing compact chippers some 25 years ago and never really shifted the focus to larger models. Christophe Beauprez: "All our machines, from the lighter to the heavier 25hp models, have a maximum width of 72 centimeters, high efficiency and high capacity. Ideal for the bulk of applications in the green sector."

Work is also underway on a new wood chipper. The M600 will be the largest model in the Jo Beau line. "The new chipper will have even greater capacity and volume, but will remain so compact that it will still fit through a doorway. We hope to present it in the fourth quarter of 2022. The newcomer will have a more powerful gasoline engine for higher efficiency and an innovative tracked chassis for rougher terrain, including slopes," says the business manager.

Next generation

Meanwhile, the chippers and stump grinders received a facelift and further optimization. Reinforcement was added to some machines, or they were fitted with additional fastening lugs for better fastening during transport. In addition, the feed hoppers in volume 6% and feed openings 20% were enlarged. Now even larger branches with wide side branches can be fed in in an ergonomic way. The vast experience of users themselves was also taken into account during the design phase of the updated line of shredders. Almost all suggested improvements, such as sturdier construction, were implemented.

"Far-reaching ergonomics for the user received much attention from the very beginning. This line continues with the updated models. Not only in use, but also in transport. All these points together resulted in Jo Beau bringing the design of the machines into the 21st century. A sharp, tough and fresh look, which should show that we are more than ready for the future," concludes Christophe Beauprez.
