Three stable mini excavators of a new generation
The SV15 VT is effortlessly deployable on demanding job sites. In terms of hydraulic performance, this lightweight (1.5 tons) mini-excavator will please many a user.

Three stable mini excavators of a new generation

The three redesigned mini-excavators were recently presented by Yanmar Compact Equipment EMEA.

The new minis are described by Yanmar as “robust, reliable and versatile, with impressive performance, in a very compact package.” Their light weight makes them easy to transport between job sites with a standard (braked) trailer. The new mini excavators have a short turning radius combined with a wide range of boom adjustment to the left. There is a choice of cab or canopy versions, both of which offer intuitive operation and plenty of space, for excavators in this weight class.

The engine compartment is easily accessible for maintenance thanks to a wider engine hood. The side panels can be quickly disassembled and the removable cabin floor gives direct access to hydraulic components, the fuel and hydraulic tanks plus the radiator.

In terms of power and performance, the SV17 VT takes a big step toward larger models, and that comes in handy on rough terrain.

ViPPS system and Smart Assist Remote

The new series of mini excavators uses Yanmar's ViPPS hydraulic system, which combines power and speed with precision, enabling smooth and simultaneous operation of digging and slewing actions. These compact mini excavators can also optionally use Yanmar's Smart Assist Remote, the fleet management system whose data can be read remotely and in real time on PC or smartphone.

Safety first

Safety is paramount at Yanmar, and this is reflected in the achievement of ROPS, TOPS and FOPS certifications for both canopy and cab variants. Of further importance to the operator is optimum all-round visibility. Powerful LED work lights and an orange safety belt are standard, and a belt sensor is available as an option. The new triplets are now available to order from dealers and distributors in Belgium (Cebeko, FM Bouwmachines, Gecimat) and the Netherlands (Geert-Jan de Kok).

At around 1.9 tons, the SV19 VT is the largest of the three new Yanmar mini excavators, and that is reflected in its performance.

Yanmar SV15 VT

A standard trailer with a gross weight of 2.5 tons is sufficient to transport this small powerhouse including associated attachments. In fact, the SV15 VT has a transport weight of 1,465 kilograms (canopy) or 1,555 kilograms (cab) and standard four attachment points on the running gear. Its performance comes from the Stage V-compliant, three-cylinder diesel engine with indirect injection, from Yanmar's well-known TNV series. This provides a digging force of 7.4 kN on the stick and 12.9 kN on the bucket with low fuel consumption. The hydraulic system with double gear pump delivers a flow rate of 28.6 liters per minute at a maximum pressure of 205 bar.

With its short turning radius and large swivel range, the SV15 VT can be used anywhere. The width-adjustable undercarriage (990 to 1,170 millimeters) also adds to its versatility. It has two travel speeds: 2.4 and 4.8 km/h.

Yanmar SV17 VT

At 1,570 kilograms (canopy) and 1,660 kilograms (cab), the SV17 VT is not much heavier than the SV15 VT, and therefore equally easy to transport between work sites, which is certainly an advantage for landscapers and in paving work. In terms of power and performance, it takes a big step toward larger models. Its digging force is at 9.9/16 kN (stick/bucket) and pulling force at 12.8 and 8 kN, respectively.

The Yanmar SV19 VT derives its great stability in part from its variable undercarriage and optimal additional ballast weight.

Yanmar SV19 VT

The largest of the three - it weighs about 1.9 tons - the SV19 VT is uitg erquipped with a Stage V engine from the Yanmar 3TNV platform. The breakout force is 11.4/16.7 kN (dipperstick/bucket) and the traction force 12.9 kN. Travel speed is 2.4 or 4.4 kph. The ViPPS hydraulic system delivers 39 liters/min at a maximum pressure of 220 bar. With its width-variable undercarriage (980 to 1,320 millimeters), wide swing range and optional additional counterweight of 50 kilograms, it is going to offer a lot of stability, flexibility and working range in addition to strength.
