In Varsenare, Stephan Coulleit of the Gardens company was recently allowed to commission a new flail mower. While the garden contractor was working with the machine on a test field across the road, Verhaeghe Products was on hand to explain the new TMC Cancela TDR-220.
TMC Cancela has years of experience in mowers with loose flails, and with the TDR, it presents the smaller brother of the TDE family. The TDR range, ranging from the TDR-160 to the TDR-250, is suitable for mowing roadsides and ditch edges with tractors from 80 to 200 hp. Besides edges, hedges and brambles are also part of the daily business of this professional flail mower.
TDR flail mowers are extremely easy to couple and can work both behind and completely beside the tractor, both horizontally (up to 10° negative) and vertically. In fact, the suspension via the three-point linkage at the rear of the tractor allows hydraulic swinging and vertical adjustment, from centrally behind to completely beside the tractor by means of double parallelogram arms equipped with a hydraulic cylinder.
The height of mowing can be infinitely controlled by the linkage, while the roller at the rear provides additional control and stability. With the FREEFLOAT system, the machine also effortlessly follows the slopes of the terrain. The rubber suspension can move in both directions.
Several worldwide patents are present in the TDR machines. For example, the frame of the mowers consists of Strenx®, a special alloy that is both resistant to wear and elastic in use. At the level of flail suspension, an ingenious system reduces wear to an absolute minimum, making welding work on the rotor unnecessary. And the M27 bolts connecting the clappers to the rotor are also unrivalled. The wide-angle cardan and 6 V-belts, in turn, guarantee safe power transmission to the rotor.
