Do maintain all-season furniture

Well maintenance with all-season furniture

Material remains sensitive

Autumn is a wet period and winter has periods of frost. Snow and ice can also stay on garden furniture for a long time. For wood, painted metal and rattan, this means a strain on the material. Wood can work so that boards warp, paint can flake and rattan can break. Even plastic can discolor and turn gray. Wicker is also a synthetic fiber that can discolor and sag or even break. Even aluminum can weather and turn black from dirt.

Regular cleaning

So the term all-season should be taken with a grain of salt. Even from bright sunlight, furniture does not become more beautiful. UV light actually does more damage than moisture. Garden Furniture are protected by manufacturers, but that does not mean that maintenance should not be done. To enjoy garden furniture for a long time, it must be treated properly and cleaned regularly.

Hardwood garden furniture

Teak wood properly treated when furniture is manufactured can last 25 years. Wood should actually be treated twice a year preferably in the spring and end of the summer season. After cleaning with green soap, the wood should be dried. There are special teak cleaners for extreme soiling. Apply two coats of teak oil or impregnation protector. The wood is thus especially protected from harmful Uv and prevents aging.

Woven furniture

Wicker furniture is made of plastic fibers that are braided. There are many quality differences in wicker furniture, though. This depends mainly on the method of braiding and the use of a round or flat wire. A flat wire is a lot thinner and thus more susceptible to breakage. Plastic is most sensitive to UV light and dirt. For this there is a special protector that protects the wickerwork from discoloration and also repels dirt.

Wood and wicker are the materials most often chosen for garden furniture. With proper care, the furniture will last a long time. If you do not use the furniture for a while, cover it with a special protective cover or put it in a dry place.
