Draining vertically without soil damage

Vertical drainage without soil damage

The Savic Group has launched the Drainjet after years of development. With a vertical drainage system, the Drainjet provides a water- and oxygen-permeable soil without damaging it.

The Drainjet was developed to break through disturbed and compacted soil layers so that rainwater and surface water can once again find their way to the groundwater table in the deeper soil structure. You can use the machine in many situations: for a lawn that has been under water for a long time, for plants that inexplicably die after a while, in parking lots with large puddles that do not move away, on swampy horse tracks, on pastures with standing puddles, on fields with wet soil and on swampy industrial sites.

Equipment

The Drainjet 90 is an extremely compact machine designed specifically for the landscaping and contractor industry. "The machine's small size allows it to drive through narrow openings without spoiling the existing construction and structure," says inventor Robin Uzeel. "The machine has its electricity supply on board, eliminating the need for external cables. Wide lawn tires under a lightweight machine further ensure that the turf can be accessed without damaging it."

Operation

The Drainjet allows the soil to be vertically drained without affecting the structure or disposition of the soil. "The water seeps back into the groundwater table and is not simply drained," says commercial manager Jurgen Van de Walle. A hollow granular spindle is  manually driven into the ground by compressed air. "During the driving in, air veins are created," says Van de Walle. "These air veins, which can be inserted up to three meters deep, are vertically and horizontally ramified in the soil structure. Those veins are then filled with a water-permeable and porous granulate, via pneumatic transport from the machine's reservoir. That reservoir is connected to the granulate spindle with a wear-resistant hose."

The optional vibratory hammer for very hard substrates is used to make a preparatory hole in the ground, to a depth of one and a half meters. The vibratory hammer drives a hollow spindle into the ground, and compressed air is propelled through that spindle to break up the layers and create air veins.

Autonomy

The machine is operated by remote control, which the operator carries with him.

To remember

- This machine can be used to work in almost any weather year round.

- The underground injection has a permanent character, preventing the resulting veins from collapsing; thus, they maintain their draining function.

- The existing topsoil will not be damaged during the performance of the works.

- Excess stagnant water is not discharged, but rather returned to the deeper groundwater table.
